In late June the biking Belles arrived for their guided cycling week. Alison, Fiona, Lisa, Melanie and Noreen all from the same cycling club, the Chichester biking Belles, arrived on a hot Sunday afternoon for five days of road cycling in and around Snowdonia. Some of them had done a small amount of cycling here before, but for most of them this was new cycling territory! They had specifically come to do lots of hill climbing as their usual cycling consists of the beautiful South Downs, which are very different from the mountains here in Snowdonia.
Considering the mixed weather we have been having in North Wales this summer, the weather forecast looked very good for the week.
The rides we covered went in different directions from our base at Bryn Teg. We cycled down the coast to Aberdovey via happy valley, we cycled along the Lleyn peninsula up to the top of Uwchmynydd overlooking Bardsey Island. Perhaps one of the best days was the cycle ride around Snowdon including the wonderful climb from Llyn Gwynant to the top of Llanberis Pass.
Over the week the group covered 250 miles and climbed approximately 17000 ft! On Friday evening we said our goodbyes, and the Biking Belles went home happy and satisfied with their memorable week in North Wales.
